The Energetics of Healing: How Animals Communicate Their Needs
By Laura Muzal.
As pet parents, we often wish our animals could just tell us what’s wrong. The truth is, they do, just not in the ways we’re always taught to recognize.
Animals are deeply intuitive, and they communicate through energy long before anything becomes obvious in the physical body. As an energy healer and intuitive, I’ve seen time and again how subtle shifts in behavior, emotion, or even body language are actually messages. They’re often our pets’ first attempts to say, “Hey, something’s off here.”
Whether it’s a dog, a cat, or another companion, all animals have energetic patterns that reflect their overall balance. When those patterns get disrupted by emotional stress, toxins, changes in the home, or even their human’s energy, the signs can be easy to miss if we’re only looking at the surface.
Energy Speaks Before Symptoms Do
A lot of pet parents come to me when their animal has developed a chronic condition, anxiety, or strange behavior. What’s interesting is that, when we tune in energetically, we usually find that the issue started long before the physical symptoms showed up.
For example, your pet might start avoiding certain areas of the house, sleeping more than usual, licking a paw obsessively, or reacting to other animals or people differently. Sometimes they mirror their human’s stress, picking up on emotions that haven’t been expressed. These are all energetic cues.
It’s not always about pain or illness. It can also be about energetic stagnation or overwhelm. Just like us, animals need to release energy, process emotions, and feel safe in their bodies. When they don’t, it creates imbalance, and the body eventually speaks louder.
Learning to Listen
You don’t need to be an intuitive to start listening more deeply to your pet. One of the most powerful things you can do is slow down and observe. Start noticing patterns:
- What changes after visitors come over?
- How does your pet act before or after meals?
- Is there a spot on their body they’re constantly drawing attention to?
These subtle cues can guide you toward what they need. Maybe it’s a dietary change, more grounding time outdoors, or simply emotional reassurance from you.
I often use a combination of energy healing, muscle testing, and intuitive communication in my sessions to tap into what’s going on beneath the surface. But even outside of a session, your pet is already telling you what they’re feeling, especially if you’re open to receiving it.
Healing Isn’t Always Linear
It’s also important to know that energetic healing doesn’t always follow a straight line. Sometimes things seem to get worse before they get better. A shift in energy might bring up old emotions, detox reactions, or even behavior changes that can feel confusing at first.
That’s why holding space for your pet, being calm, grounded, and curious can make a big difference. When we stay present and supportive, our animals feel safer to release what’s no longer serving them.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve ever had a moment where you just knew your pet was trying to tell you something, even if it didn’t make logical sense, you weren’t imagining it. Our animals are constantly communicating with us. When we learn to listen not just with our ears but with our hearts and energy, we open the door to deeper healing for both them and ourselves.
